European Programme for Critical Infrastructure Protection

A separate chapter under the responsibility of the Civil Emergency Preparedness and Strategies Division is the European Programme for Critical Infrastructure Protection. Its general objective is to improve the protection of critical infrastructures in the European Union. This objective is supposed to be achieved by Council Directive No. 2008/114/EC and other accompanying European projects (Critical Infrastructure Warning Information Network, European Reference Network for Critical Infrastructure Protection) and financial measures. The Civil Emergency Preparedness and Strategies Division acts as a contact point for coordinating issues related to the European Programme for Critical Infrastructure Protection within the Czech Republic and with other Member States, the Council of the EU and the European Commission. 

One of measures to facilitate the implementation of the European Programme for Critical Infrastructure Protection is the Critical Infrastructure Warning Information Network (CIWIN). CIWIN is currently operates as a forum for exchanging information and best practices on relevant measures and strategies related to Critical Infrastructure Protection.

Participation in CIWIN project

Acces to CIWIN is allowed only on the basis of categories listed below:

  1. Critical Infrastructure Protection contact person, national portal managers (CIWIN Executive and CIWIN support officer) / ministries, trade unions, agencies, regional or local government of the EU Member States;
  2. Owners and/or operators of European Critical Infrastructures (Transport, Energy, ICT, etc.) / national research organizations, universities and Critical Infrastructure Protection Facilities / EU Registered Professionals / etc.;
  3. European Commission, European institutions and agencies / European association of operators registered in the transparency register (Energy, Transport, Water, Finance, etc.) under the European Commission.
