Christmas meeting of the Foundation
The Police Officers and Firefighters Foundation - Mutual Assistance in Distress organized the traditional pre-Christmas meeting of families of police officers and firefighters who died in the performance of their duties. The Foundation helps to improve living conditions of the survivors, especially children. p. 2

Czech FEU balanced
In November 2015 the 20th Assembly of the Czech Association of Fire Officers (ČAHD, the Czech FEU) took place in Brno. The Association is a significant contributor to a range of domestic and international projects in the field of fire protection.

Fire of the ethylene unit
On 13th August last year, a fire in the ethylene unit happened in Záluží near Litvínov, Northern Bohemia. Nearly 500 firefighters, both professional and volunteer, cooperated in the liquidation. The special degree of fire alert was proclaimed in site.p. 4

Inspections of social services facilities
Last year the Fire & Rescue Service of the Czech Republic focused on supervisions of fire safety in social services providing accommodation for the elderly and disabled people. p. 8

Maintenance and inspection of flue gas paths
Based on negative findings gained from the state fire supervision, particularly in identifying the causes of fires, the Fire & Rescue Service of the Czech Republic has long sought to improve the situation in the area of cleaning, inspection and review of flue gas paths. p. 12

Protection of facilities against fire
A new type of fire safety equipment, that prevents initiation of a fire or an explosion, represents a revolutionary approach to protect spaces from fires.  The basic principle is to replace certain amount of oxygen in the space by nitrogen. p. 13

Simulator for training of operational management
The new version of the simulator for training of operations management at the Fire & Rescue Service of the Czech Republic has been developed, and in summer deployed into full operation. There is a support for practical training in receiving emergency calls and their dispatching in an operational and information centre. p. 16

Examining emergency preparedness
The system of chemical monitoring, warning, and notification is operated by selected operators in the Moravian-Silesian Region, who use dangerous substances. Last year, a series of  exercises of IRS bodies examined this system. p. 20

Optimizing teaching
To optimize system of safety education in all kindergartens, primary and secondary schools is the goal of the interdepartmental working group, whose members include representatives of the Fire & Rescue Service of the Czech Republic, and educational and professional public.  p. 23

Preparing Crisis Staffs of municipalities
Crisis staffs of municipalities with extended powers play an important role in managing the consequences of flooding or other emergencies. The Fire & Rescue Service of the Czech Republic organises various forms of theoretical and practical training for crisis staff members. p. 26

Young Rescuer
FRS of the South Bohemia Region has been developing many activities designed to prepare communities for emergencies. The competition "Young Rescuer – Firefighter in Action" is one of them, organized for elementary school pupils. p. 28

Unique intervention
A rescue deployment composed of members of the Rescue Unit of the Fire & Rescue Service of the Czech Republic was involved in successful rescue of the Czech Albis cargo ship this March. The vessel jammed in one of the bridges on the River Elbe in   Dresden. p. 4

Fire with tragic consequences
In December 2015 an explosion and a subsequent fire occurred in an industrial area in Turnov, East Bohemia. The fire caused destruction of the manufacturing hall and the warehouse. Intervention in the statically damaged building was extremely risky for acting firefighters. The disaster had one casualty. p. 6

Traces of fire spread on bodies
The Technical Institute of Fire Protection in Prague conducted model tests of results of fire on passenger vehicles. The intention of these tests was to evaluate the spread of fire, and its traces on car bodies in different weather conditions. p. 12

Temperatures of halogen lamps
The goal of the experimental measurement was recording and analysing of the surface temperatures on the glass and on the light cover mounted in different positions. The rate of decrease in the surface temperature of a lamp from the time off was also recorded. p. 16

Bag for triage
A bag for triage, used by firefighters - rescuers, serves for imposition of coloured strips for labelling the persons injured in mass disasters. A new bag can be mounted onto a belt, and was successfully tested in difficult conditions. p. 20

Fuel transportation at the Fire & Rescue Service of the Czech Republic
Enough of fuel is a necessary condition to ensure operability of firefighting equipment. Transportation of fuel within the Fire & Rescue Service of the Czech Republic is governed by strict rules, which are based on the European Agreement on the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road. p. 21

Firefighters help to mentally afflicted
The Fire & Rescue Service of the Czech Republic carries out preventive educational activities for various age and social groups of society, in accordance with the Law on Fire Protection. Among others, also for people with mental disabilities. p. 24

Organizational accidents
Results of this special research showed that Europeans are highly vulnerable by organizational accidents, which are caused by defects in behaviour of people, and especially by defects in management of human society at all levels of management. Large gaps were found in emergency management of emergencies with social nature. p. 25

Safety of people with special needs
The FRS of Olomouc Region realises a project named Bezpečnost osob se specifickými potřebami (Safety of people with special needs), which aims to help groups of population with specific needs, e.g. blind people, people with hearing impaired, handicapped or elderly. p. 28

Foundation care in 2015
The Police Officers and Firefighters Foundation - Mutual Assistance in Distress tended in 2015 by 59 children from 36 single-parent families, and by 41 severely physically disabled former police officers and firefighters. p. 30

Invitation to Zbiroh
Traditionally on 1st May the gates of the Exposition of Fire Protection of FRS CR opens in Zbiroh near Pilsen. During the six years of its existence, it has become the largest exhibition of firefighting equipment both in the Czech Republic and in Europe. On the area of 4,500 square meters you can see more than 600 exhibits. p. 31

Fire of the roof of the National Museum
At night on 12 February 2016 a fire occurred on the roof of a historic building of the National Museum in Prague. Total of 135 firefighters from 18 fire units participated in the liquidation. Thanks to nowadays reconstruction works on the building, fire loss are very low. p. 4

Cylinders in fire conditions
A joint project of the Pilsen FRS and the Czech Police was implemented in the years 2012 – 2014. The aim was to define behavior of cylinders / pressure vessels during heat exposure, and to describe basic aspects of the elimination such cylinders by shooting through the cylinder. p. 7

Growing importance of fire prevention
In March this year already 19th Conference on Fire Protection with international participation named Červený kohout (Red Rooster) was held in Frymburk, South Bohemia. This year´s main attention was focused on fire prevention. p. 16

Price for 112 operators
In April 2016 Prague hosted the awards ceremony for the best services to citizens in distress via the European emergency call number 112. Here EENA (the European Emergency Number Association, settled in Brussels) awarded one of the prizes to the Operational and Information Centre of the Olomouc FRS. p. 19

SEQUANA 2016 International Exercise
In the beginning of this March, SEQUANA 2016 - the international exercise of rescue bodies, was held in France. The Czech Republic participated there with the CBRNDET module (i.e. Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Detection and Sampling) for detection of chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear substances and their sampling. The main topic of this exercise was aftermath of floods in Paris. p. 20

Drought and its consequences in the country
In April this year Prague hosted a coordination meeting of representatives of bodies of the Integrated Rescue System. The main topic was how to fight with fires in natural environment caused by heat waves and droughts. p. 22

Firefighters in cooperation with health professionals
The Prague Fire Brigade cooperates with the Humanitarian Unit of the Czech Red Cross in Prague esp. in addressing the challenges of emergency and disaster preparedness. The cooperation is mainly focused on establishment and management of evacuation centers, distribution of humanitarian aid, and emergency accommodation. p. 24

Preventive-educational activity
For eleven years the Association of Lifebuoy (in Czech: Záchranný kruh) has been working on projects that lead to education, awareness and practical training of the population to common risks and the risks of emergencies. Teaching materials and other results and projects are used by more than 6,000 teachers and lecturers. p. 26

Awards for rescue actions
As traditionally in the Prague Castle, on 7 April this year Mr. Miloš Zeman, President of the Czech Republic, awarded Golden Rescue Crosses for outstanding acts of both, professional rescuers and amateurs, and individual / collectives who last year contributed to saving human lives. p. 28

Firefighter of the Year 2015
In April 2016 the Top Hotel Prague hosted the rendition of results of the seventh annual survey of major personalities, the best teams and the most important projects within the Fire & Rescue Service of the Czech Republic in 2015. p. 30

Firefighters´ Day
On 4th May 2016 the Firefighters´ Day celebration took place at the Hradčany Square in Prague. At this occasion 250 new members of the Fire & Rescue Service of the Czech Republic took their festive oath. Celebrations were symbolically ended by the fire mass celebrated by Dominik cardinal Duka, archbishop of Prague. p. 2

Visegrad Group Meeting
The leaders responsible for civil protection in the Visegrad Group countries (i.e. CZ, HU, PL, and SK) met in Prague with representatives of the Fire & Rescue Service of the Czech Republic. The V4 meeting was held on 17 and 18 May 2016 under the Czech Presidency of the V4, and in the year of the 25th anniversary of the foundation of the Visegrad Group. p. 5

Fire of technology for processing waste
On 19th January this year a fire of a press for proceeding of waste occurred in the A.P.E., Ltd. company premises in Prague. The fire spread as a result of explosions of pressure vessels with dangerous substances. Total of 175 firefighters, both professional and volunteer, from Prague and Central Bohemia intervened in site. p. 6

Use of explosives at FRS CR
Ten years ago, in 2006 the Ministry of Interior- the General Directorate of the Fire & Rescue Service of the Czech Republic decided to set up its own group of officers with specialized skills and equipment designed for carrying out small-scale blasting and destruction. Subsequently, in 2007 the team of blasters was established. p. 14

Application for coordinating humanitarian assistance in the region
A new application serves for a simpler registration and solution of requirements of humanitarian aid in a region. The entry to this application can be found on the website of the FRS of Zlin region. p. 19

Radiation protection now - 30 years after the Chernobyl accident
On 6 May this year a conference on current issues of radiation protection of the population was held. The conference reminded the 30th anniversary of the accident in Chernobyl. The need for intensive education at all levels underlined all discussions. Preventive measures include knowledge of early warning, escape routes and first aid. p. 20

Magazine on firefighters in television broadcasting
The Population Protection Institute in Lázně Bohdaneč began filming a fire magazine titled "HASIČI (Firefighters)", which focuses mainly on actual risk of fires, how to prevent specific problems, and other live topics. The magazine will be broadcast since June 2016 in the Regional television station CZ. p. 29

An interview with Martina Sáblíková on her preparations for the biggest sporting event of this summer - the Olympic Games, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. p. 30

Sport series started again
The series of sport competitions organized this year was kicked off. Besides two rounds of competitions in the disciplines of TFA, several rounds of the Grand Prix in Fire Attack of Teams were held. In late May the first two races of the Czech Cup in combination of two events were held. p. 32

Fire of production hall
On 18th March 2016 a fire occurred in a production facility in an industrial zone in Vyškov, South Moravia. This one major fire caused damages of hundreds of thousands Czech crowns, and is among the fires of the highest damages in the history of the Fire & Rescue Service of the South Moravian Region. p. 4

Fire and operational safety of flue ways
Fire and operational safety of flue ways was one of the topics of the international workshop held on 7th June 2016 in Prague. The meeting was a great opportunity for the exchange of information and experience in the field of chimney sweeping. p. 9

International fire investigation conference in Hungary
In the days of 24 to 26 May 2016 Budapest hosted an international conference focused on investigating the causes of fires. Participants from 13 countries shared their experience, among them representatives of the Fire & Rescue Service of the Czech Republic. p. 10

Humanitarian assistance
ADRA is a well-known international humanitarian organization providing assistance to people in need. ADRA has been involved in helping after floods and other natural disasters in the Czech Republic since 1992. p. 12

Post-traumatic care team
PTT, the post-traumatic care teams, provide post-traumatic interventional care to members and employees of the Fire & Rescue Service of the Czech Republic, who experienced a traumatic event in connection with the performance of official or business tasks, and also the process of psychosocial assistance to persons affected by emergencies. Team members cooperate closely with a psychologist. p. 14

New director of the Prague Emergency Medical Service
Mr. MUDr. Petr Kolouch, MBA directs the Emergency Medical Service of the City of Prague since July 2015. This interview provides information about changes and goals that have been achieved within the year of his leadership, and on functioning of the largest emergency medical service in the country. p. 16

Integrated Rescue System and persons with hearing impairments
The article highlights the issue of warning and evacuation for people with hearing disabilities. Technological development of communication means and devices that would facilitate early warning of people in emergency and possibilities of subsequent evacuation is described. p. 18

Czech Republic prepares for drought

Preparing members of Crisis Staff
Crisis staffs are working bodies that are established for providing various activities arising from dealing with emergencies or crisis situations. The Fire & Rescue Service of the Czech Republic organises various forms of theoretical and practical training for crisis staff members, including exercises, which ranks among the basic forms of preparing members of Crisis Staffs. p. 24

"Junior Diary" for children
In 2014 the FRS of South Bohemian Region in cooperation with the Vltava-Labe-Press, Ltd., created "Junior Diary" for children. The aim of this cooperation is to issue contributions targeted to children, and focused on civil protection, fire protection and the IRS (integrated rescue system). p. 26

Fire safety in the Hradec nad Moravicí Chateau
In the article you can find not only historical information about the object, but also description of current fire protection measures. The chateau building is divided into separate fire compartments. Two independent analyses of fire-fighting were made. The priority is mutual long term cooperation of the Moravian-Silesian FRS and the National Heritage Institute. s. 4

Tactical exercise at the Dalešice dam
Up to seventy firefighters, policemen, medics and water rescuers participated in an extensive tactical exercise held in June at the Dalešice dam, the Vysočina Region. The exercise was focused on rescuing people from a broken cruise ship. s. 14

International canine teams met in Kaznějov
In June 2016 a village of Kaznějov near Pilsen hosted the 6th International Meeting of Canine Teams within USAR Detachments. The meeting, which is held biannually, is focused on practicing, examination and improving the level of practical experience. Organisational readiness and complexity of tasks prepared in the canine polygon were positively evaluated. During the exercise in total of 226 buried people were found. s. 17

International training courses
Every year training of foreign specialists in the field of protection against chemical weapons under the auspices of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (UN OPCW) is a traditional pillar of training activities of the Population Protection Institute in Lázně Bohdaneč. This year, for the first time, the course was held directly abroad, not only in the Czech Republic. s. 20

Crises, disasters, and collapses
The question of how the European Union and the Czech Republic could respond to the current security situation in the world, was raised in the spring security conference, which was held in collaboration with the Fire & Rescue Service of the Czech Republic HZS ČR ročně provádí přibližně 400 tematických požárních kontrol obcí. s. 23

One day with firefighters
On 28th June 2016 more than fifty pupils of the seventh grade of primary schools, who participated in the "Day with firefighters at the Liberec Station" competition, experienced the morning with firefighters, full of enlightenment and entertainment. In the area of the fire station, students acquainted with the work of firefighters, and visited also the Regional Operation and Information Centre of the FRS of the Liberec Region. s. 25

European TFA Champion again from the Czech Republic
In June 2016 the 18th World Cup of TFA (Toughest Firefighter Alive) was held in Torun, Poland. In the huge competition and with amazing support from the whole team Lukáš Novák won the individual race overall.

Fire of a textile warehouse
On 25 June 2016 firefighters of the FRS of the Olomouc Region interfered in a fire of three halls that served to store of used textile. Damages to property were extensive, despite all the efforts of firefighters. Nearly 130 professional and volunteer firefighters from Olomouc FRS and Moravia-Silesia FRS intervened on site. s. 4

Experimental measurements of surface temperature in halogen lamps, light bulbs and fluorescent tubes
The aim of these experiments was to measure and record an increase in surface temperatures after turning on the light bulbs, and a temperature drop after turning off the lights bulbs. s. 8

Rescue team of firefighters and medics to MODEX exercise in Austria
The Czech USAR team checked its preparedness in an international exercise, which took place in Austrian municipality of Tritolwerk from 8 to 11 June 2016. The fictive country of Modulistan was hit by a major earthquake, which in conjunction with the extensive floods caused a large number of injured persons, landslides and collapsed buildings. s. 11

Czech humanitarian assistance to Macedonia
The Fire & Rescue Service of the Czech Republic sent humanitarian aid to Macedonia, heavily affected by floods. From the weekend of 6 August 2016 the Republic of Macedonia, a landlocked country on the Balkan Peninsula, suffered from severe thunderstorms and flash floods that killed more than twenty people. In the capital of Skopje water in the streets reached up to 1.5 meters height. s. 12

Preparing of staff for crisis management
This May the FRS of the Liberec Region organized training for the emergency management staff in municipalities with extended powers, and for the staff of the crisis management of the Liberec Regional Authority. The program was aimed at, inter alia, the content and form of preparedness of members of the Crisis Staff. s. 14

Moravian-Silesian region prepared for a possible water shortage
The Moravian-Silesian Region and its rescue forces improves safety of their residents in a variety of ways.  Following the current issues of the last period, the “SUCHO 2016” (i.e. DRY 2016) exercise was held under the auspices of the President of the Region in Ostrava in the beginning of June this year, and  focused on the themes of extreme long droughts. s. 16

Healthy environment and good quality drinking water
The State Environmental Fund organized the "Fight against drought and environmental burdens" seminar, which was held subsequently in Prague, Brno and Ostrava. In Prague the seminar was held in the Prague City Hall on the Mariánské Sq. on 27 July 2016. Participants were provided practical information about the offer of subsidies from the National Programme of Environment and Environment Operational Programme. s. 24

Safety for students of universities
The MoI, General Directorate of the Fire & Rescue Service of the Czech Republic prepared an expert seminar for representatives of universities, held in Prague on 28 June 2016. The main topic concerns the population protection, especially safety education from kindergarten to seniors and disabled citizens, but also the training of professionals. s. 25

One year of the World of Rescuers
The Centre for Health and Safety called also the World of Rescuers launched with the opening ceremony on 11 September 2015. The project funded from the European Union funds and supported by the City of Karlovy Vary has been prepared for several years and brought high expectations. Till now, nearly 12,000 visitors passed through its gates, so these expectations are fulfilled. s. 30

Fire on boat on the Dalešická Dam
On July 2, 2016 a fire occurred at the cruiser on the Dalešická Dam, the Vysočina Region.  Five men crew managed to reach the shore in time to safety.  Firefighters extinguished the blaze in cooperation with members of the Water Rescue Service of the Czech Red Cross. s. 4

Cards for communication with the deaf
Members of the FRS of the Zlin Region presented a new tool for intervention on the incident scene, where they can will find people with hearing disabilities.  They created cards containing eighteen simple sentences, through which firefighters could calm down a deaf person, give him/her vital information about his/her safety, and also obtain important information for the firefighters or other intervening IRS bodies. s. 10

Collaboration of Psychological Service of FRS CR and Moldova
Four representatives of the Psychological Service of Fire Protection of the Republic of Moldova visited Prague in July 2016.  The three-day meeting was held in the seat of the General Directorate of the Fire & Rescue Service of the Czech Republic, and continued in discussion of topics raised during the meeting held last year in Chisinau.s. 14

Safety management for the European Communities
The Tomáš Baťa University in Zlín, the Department of Crisis Management, the Brno University of Technology and the Institute of Forensic Engineering held on 8 and 9 September 2016 the Crisis Management and its Solutions international conference in Uherské Hradiště. This event allowed a wide discussion and exchange of experience among scientific and pedagogical staff, practitioners and other conference participants. s. 20

Safety Day with Firefighters
What to do in case of fire, floods, leakage of hazardous materials or incident in a Temelín nuclear power plant? How to proceed when it is necessary to shelter oneself or to evacuate to safety? The Fire Rescue Service of the South Bohemia Region this year continued successfully in implementation of the project called "Safety Day with Firefighters." s. 22

Fifty volunteer firefighters completed the course of population protection
In May this year, the FRS of the Vysočina Region organized a course for technicians of population protection. The technician of population protection fulfils many special tasks in his fire unit.  He provides training of squad members, but he also assists to the mayor of municipality in the case of dealing with emergencies in the village. s. 23

Fire fairy-tales
The first book of fire fairy-tales was officially presented on September 3, 2016 in the Exposition of Fire Protection of FRS CR in Zbiroh, the Pilsen Region.  The authors of these tales are firefighters who attended the literary contest "Once upon a time at fire service." s. 25

Ostrava 2016 World Championship in Fire Sport
More than 400 competitors from 16 countries came to Ostrava to fight for world's medals. The largest representation was in the men's category, with 14 teams at the start.  New world champions, new world records, the joy of victory, emotion, friendly sport atmosphere, but also the fatigue from intensive preparation, it all gradually mingled during the 12th World Championship in Fire Sport held this August in Ostrava. s. 28

New Czech champions in fire sport
From 26 to 28 August 2016 the Championship of the Czech Republic in fire sport of teams of the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic and the Championship of the Association of Firefighters of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia in fire sport was held in Brno. Award Ceremony of the best athletes of the Ministry of Interior for the year 2016 was held on 4 October this year in TOP Hotel Praha.  The organiser, the Sports Centre of the Ministry of Interior introduced the new brand OLYMP. p. 2

Traffic accident of a trolley bus
On August 30, 2016 a serious traffic accident of a trolley bus happened in Otrokovice, the Zlín Region.  Thirteen people were injured in the accident, one of them was transported from the accident place by helicopter air ambulance.  Professional firefighters from Otrokovice, Zlín and Kroměříž intervened in the site of the incident. p. 4

Elevators belong to a very important technical equipment of buildings and technologies. For these reasons, we need to pay attention not only to their good technical execution, but also in terms of fire safety. Especially the fire elevators and the evacuation elevators are very important elements of fire safety. p. 10

Experienced operators of emergency lines
The Regional Operation and Information Centre of the Prague Fire Rescue Service (Prague KOPIS, in Czech) has qualified and good operating officers and technicians of 112. The Prague KOPIS is the centre of management of activities and coordination of fire units of the Prague FRS for the area of the capital city of Prague.  In early 2015 the Department of 112 Call Centre merged with the KOPIS Dept., and moved to a  new building of the Modřany Fire Station in Prague 12. p.14

Czech Republic Championship of Rescue Dogs  or Firefighters have the best search dogs for 2016
In the days of 9 to 11  September 2016 the 12th Championship of the Czech Republic of rescue dogs and dog handlers of the bodies of the Integrated Rescue System was held in Ostrava. This year's event was organised by the Ostrava Municipal Police in the premises of the Dolní Vítkovice. p. 15

Observers’ day of the Water 2016 Exercise
In the days of 12 to 14  September 2016 the Ministry of Agriculture in cooperation with the Prague City Hall and other entities organized the Water 2016 Exercise. The goal of this exercise was to verify the system of emergency drinking water supply in emergencies and crisis situations, and to train professional service of mobile water treatment plants.  The exercise was completed with an observers’ programme on the bank of the Vltava River. p. 20

Over the years he interfered with hundreds of events.  Some prefer not to remember, some may raise a smile on his face.  But, each firefighter has one intervention that can’t be erased of his memory. p. 28

CFO visited the Olomouc Region
Major General Drahoslav Ryba, Director General of the FRS CR, continued his visits in regions to become personally acquainted with the most pressing problems of the regional FRSs. During his visits to meet with the leadership of FRS, with the rank and file firefighters at stations as well as with representatives of volunteer firefighters. This year it is already the ninth visit. s. 5

Fire of the sports equipment store in Kopřivnice
The third stage of fire alarm requested a fire in a shopping centre in Kopřivnice, Moravia, on Sunday 25th September this year. Previously announced fire of waste turned into an intervention for nearly twenty hours, which employed 95 firefighters from 17 fire units, and also other bodies of the Integrated Rescue System. First arriving fire units saw thick smoke and flames coming from the building which signalled that the fire spread to the roof. s. 6

Firefighters’ collaboration with the Prison Service
Currently, more than 22,000 men and women are imprisoned behind the gates of prisons in the Czech Republic, supervised by members of the Prison Service of the Czech Republic, who in case of e.g. a fire must be able to resolve the situation. However, a prison building has no free escape routes. Arrival of a fire engine to a fire in a prison building may not be entirely straightforward, and an intervention of firefighters or medics in contact with the imprisoned also has its own specifics. s. 9

XVR simulation program for teaching in the Brno Fire School
As a simulation we can understand some mimic of a certain real thing, state, process or event. Nowadays simulation goes mostly through a computer technology. So called computer simulation has become an integral part of many fields of human activity. s. 12

Experience of representatives of helping professions
The 6th  AWHP Conference (Aspects of Work of Helping Professions) was held on 7th  October this year in the Medical House in Prague. The conference focused on the issue of humanitarian aspects of crisis situations and emergencies was organized by the Department of Health Professions and Population Protection of the Biomedical Engineering Faculty of ČVUT, the Czech Technical University in Prague. s. 20

CBRN workshop at the FFF 2016 conference
The international exhibition and technical conference entitled Future Forces Forum 2016 (FFF 2016), the most important event in the field of defence and security in the Czech Republic, was held in the days of 17 to 21 October 2016 at the PVA EXPO PRAGUE exhibition ground. The Forum had the subtitle "Better Security = Better Future". s. 25

The situation of volunteer firefighters discussed Major General Drahoslav Ryba, Director General of the Fire α Rescue Service of the Czech Republic (FRS CR), and Karel Richter, Mayor of the Association of Firefighters of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia (SH ČMS), with Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and Milan Chovanec, Minister of the Interior, who visited the SH ČMS headquarters in June this year. s. 26

Medals and plaques of FRS CR awarded
Medals and plaques of FRS CR were awarded on the occasion of the national holiday Day of the independent Czechoslovak state. Major General Drahoslav Ryba, Director General of the Fire α Rescue Service of the Czech Republic, gave the awards to selected members of FRS CR and certain citizens of the Czech Republic, on 25th October 2016 in the Troja Castle in Prague. s. 28
